Naming a baby: Game of Thrones or House of Windsor?
Never underestimate British people's fondness for real and imaginary noble families - particularly when it comes to naming their children.
Following the birth of the future king of England and son to Kate and William, George crept up the rankings of most popular baby names in England and Wales from 12th in 2012 to 10th in 2013. Harry was the third most popular boy's name, while William was eighth.

Theon and Tyrion, both noble characters from George R.R. Martin's "Song of Ice and Fire" book series and the "Game of Thrones" HBO programme, have gained popularity as the television series has taken off. Walter and Skyler also gained popularity with "Breaking Bad".
For baby girls, Amelia and Olivia were the most popular names.
There has been a notable decline in those called Chardonnay, after both the popular grape variety and a character in now-defunct TV drama "Footballer's Wives". Meanwhile, the number of girls called Britney, Shakira and Rihanna appears to have peaked.
