Millions urged to cash in on $200 refunds
Aussies can get a 10 cent refund for each eligible container they return.
Queenslanders are being urged to cash in on their Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations and earn some easy extra cash for 2024.
Aussies in the state can currently grab a 10-cent refund when they recycle their empty drink containers, through the statewide Containers for Change scheme.
There are also now more opportunities for Aussies to make money, with the scheme expanding to include glass wine and pure spirit bottles in November.

Acting Environment Minister Grace Grace said the scheme was a good way for residents to capitalise on the festive season, while taking part in the circular economy.
“Last year, Queenslanders who participated in Containers for Change received, on average, $200 in refunds,” Grace said.
A staggering 7.4 billion containers have been returned since the program launched just over five years ago.

“That's $740 million returned to the pockets of Queenslanders, including around $11.5 million to charities and community groups,” Containers for Change CEO Natalie Roach said.
“This has made a real difference as households look for new ways to alleviate cost-of-living pressures.”
There are more than 360 refund points across the state, including drive-through depots, 24-hour bag drops, reverse vending machine kiosks and mobile services.
What refunds are available across Australia?
Not in Queensland? The good news is just about every other state and territory in Australia offer similar schemes with refunds of 10 cents for every eligible container. However, Queensland is currently the only state allowing glass wine and pure spirit bottles to be recycled.
Here are the schemes:
NSW: Return and Earn
Vic: CDS Vic
TAS: Tasmania will be delivering its Container Refund Scheme in 2024
