MILEY CYRUS IGNORES SINEAD O'CONNOR'S WARNING, POSES TOPLESS IN NEW PHOTO SHOOT

In an open letter to the former Disney starlet, O'Connor expressed concern for Cyrus, 20, about her highly sexualised antics.

"I am extremely concerned for you that those around you have led you to believe, or encouraged you in your own belief, that it is in any way ‘cool’ to be naked and licking sledgehammers in your videos... you will obscure your talent by allowing yourself to be pimped," the 46-year-old musician wrote.

Cyrus promptly hit back at the 'Nothing Compares' singer via Twitter, tweeting: "Before Amanda Bynes.... There was...." and attaching in an image of the Irish singers tweets to her.

Pimping or no pimping, Cyrus has gone on to release a racy set of photos with controversial celebrity photographer Terry Richardson, the man behind the nude 'Wrecking Ball' video.

In one of the photo, Cyrus is pictured in just lacy stockings, covering her breasts with her hands, but leaving one nipple exposed.

In another photo, Cyrus is wearing a super high-cut, red g-string leotard, which reveals a whole lot of the singer, including the ultimate fashion faux pas, a camel toe.

O'Connor said she was inspired to write to Cyrus after the 'We Can't Stop' singer revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine that O'Connor's famed 'Nothing Compares' video actually inspired Cyrus's 'Wrecking Ball' video. O'Connor disputed this, claiming the move was misinterpreted.

"The look I chose, I chose on purpose at a time when my record company were encouraging me to do what you have done," O'Connor wrote.

"I felt I would rather be judged on my talent and not my looks.

"I am happy that I made that choice, not least because I do not find myself on the proverbial rag heap now that I am almost 47 years of age, which unfortunately many female artists who have based their image around their sexuality, end up on when they reach middle age."

Sage words from O'Connor that Cyrus would be wise to heed. But alas, it appears that Miley's "just being Miley."
