As a shopping editor, a fully stocked makeup collection comes with the territory. And while my current beauty routine is mostly skincare with a little concealer and mascara thrown in, my everyday makeup bag is typically overrun by products that I previously used (or haven’t even opened yet). In short, sorting through my collection to find the few things that I actually need can quickly become a headache.
However, recently, MERIT solved my problem in a flash.
Founded by Katherine Power, the makeup line is all about minimalism and having a well-edited selection of products. Even Power refers to MERIT’s products as “your morning ritual, simplified.” If you’re someone who prefers multi-use products and rarely deviates from their four or five favorite makeup products (*raises hand*), MERIT is for you.
MERIT offers seven products in total, and all formulas are clean, vegan and cruelty-free. The collection includes a complexion stick, a tinted lip oil, cheek color, a tinted brow gel, mascara, a highlighting balm and a blending brush. Essentially, everything you need to tackle your whole face in minutes.
My favorite products of the bunch are the Brow 1980 tinted brow gel and the Flush Balm cheek color in shades “blonde” and “mood,” respectively.
I have been a long-time lover of Glossier’s Boy Brow, but MERIT’s is not only much chicer packaging-wise, but it feels lighter while still keeping my brows in place and looking full. And while “mood “is a deep burgundy (and looked a little intimidating at first, to be honest,) it adds the prettiest wash of color to my cheeks that’s easily buildable.
