McDonald's Has a New Adult Happy Meal, and It Comes With a Classic Toy

Happy Meals have no age limit.

This is truly the most wonderful time of the year – and not just because of the holiday cheer, getting a daily chocolate fix from our advent calendar, and the return of Mariah Carey to her chilly seasonal throne. On top of all of that, McDonald’s is bringing back its “adult” Happy Meals, complete with one of six different toys that you can prop up on the corner of your desk.

Last year, McD’s catered to our inner children with the release of its Cactus Plant Flea Market box, a collaboration with the fashion and lifestyle brand. (That one turned out to be so popular that a set of the CPFM toys — including that covetable four-eyed Grimace — are currently listed on eBay for $30,000.)

"With last year's Cactus Plant Flea Market Box, we unlocked the childlike joy of opening a Happy Meal box for fans of all ages," Tariq Hassan, McDonald's USA chief marketing and customer experience officer, said in a statement. "Fans told us they wanted to celebrate that quintessential childhood experience again.."

This year's Happy Meal is officially called "The Kerwin Frost Box" and has been designed in partnership with multi-hyphenate DJ, designer, and streetwear icon Kerwin Frost. Customers who order the Kerwin Frost Box can choose either a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets or a Big Mac to accompany their fries and soda of choice. The boxes also come with one of six different McNugget Buddy toys (remember those???) that have been reimagined by Frost — and there's even a Kerwin Frost McNugget Buddy that has his signature pencil tattoo.

“I’ve loved McDonald’s since I was a kid. I even had my own Ronald McDonald doll that I brought to picture day at school, and it was my dream to collect all the McNugget Buddies,” Frost said. “Now, coming up with my own special set of Buddies — each one representing different aspects of self-expression — it’s unreal, a dream come true.”

The Kerwin Frost Box will be available at participating McDonald’s restaurants starting on Monday, December 11, and running as long as supplies last. If you can’t get to your local McD’s, Frost will feature some additional McNugget Buddies-themed merch on his website, also starting on December 11. A part of the proceeds from each sale will be donated to the Harlem Arts Alliance
