'Pure entertainment': Fans erupt after contenders hole-in-one at Masters

Canadian Cory Conners has stunned fans after becoming just the sixth man to sink a hole-in-one on the sixth hole in Masters history.

Conners, 29, was sitting pretty behind the leader pack and hoping to get back in the race when he entered the sixth hole on Day 3 of the Masters.

And what better way to shave a few strokes off your score at the par-3 than draining a hole-in-one.

The Canadian became just the sixth man to sink a hole-in-one on the sixth hole in the tournaments history.

Conners also became the first Canadian with a hole in one since Ross Somerville in 1934.

Fans couldn't get enough of Conners who has produced some world class entertainment throughout the three days.

What made the shot more remarkable was he followed up the ace with a birdie on the 7th.

Conners catapulted himself into Masters contention sitting -6 and tied for fourth heading into the final round tomorrow.

Aussie Marc Lieshman is two shots behind leader Justin Rose, who needed to birdie three of his last six holes just to shoot even-par 72.

The first-round leader's overnight four-shot cushion is just one over Americans Will Zalatoris (68) and Brian Harman (69).

Also lurking ominously is three-time major winner and in-form 2015 Masters champion Jordan Spieth, who posted a 68 to join Leishman at five under.
