A man suffered a serious hand injury after a brutal machete attack in the shadow of Stamford Bridge.

Police were called to Edith Grove, Chelsea after the victim was reportedly attacked at 11pm on Sunday.

Armed Metropolitan Police officers rushed to the scene where they found the victim suffering from a serious hand injury.

A Met spokesman said the force carried out an extensive search of the area but couldn't locate a suspect.

It came weeks after another man in east London had his hand cut off after being attacked with his own machete by angry vigilantes, according to locals.

A 19-year-old man was found with “life-changing injuries” after it was alleged a machete was used to strike his hand off at the wrist in Golding Street, Whitechapel.
