Man City are Premier League champions! Manchester United defeat clinches title for rivals

Manchester City are Premier League champions once again after Manchester United’s defeat to Leicester City clinched the title for their rivals.

Man City missed out on the chance to win the title at the weekend as a home defeat to Chelsea, coupled with a United win at Aston Villa, ensured Pep Guardiola’s men would have to wait a little longer.

However, United’s hectic fixture schedule helped out City as a heavily roated Red Devils side fell 2-1 at home to Leicester on Tuesday evening to hand the title to their ‘noisy neighbours’, as Sir Alex Ferguson famously called them.

Having already won the Carabao Cup this season, City will now turn their attentions to the Champions League Final on May 29 - against Chelsea - for the chance to complete the most successful campaign in the club's history.

Rio Ferdinand previously joked that City’s potential treble will not be a ‘real’ treble like United’s 1999 haul of the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup, but City fans won’t care much if they end the season with three trophies.
