A man has been charged with the murder of a mother-of-five who was found dead at a country park in Suffolk.

The body of Egle Vengaliene, 35, was discovered in a pond at Brandon Country Park on Friday morning.

Suffolk Police said on Monday night that Andrius Vengalis, 46, had been charged with murder.

He is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

Both the suspect and the victim lived in Bury Road, Brandon. Tributes from friends on social media stated that Ms Vengaliene was from Lithuania and had five children.

Large parts of the country park were still cordoned off on Monday as detectives continued their investigation.

Police are still appealing for information from anyone who knew Egle or had seen her before her body was found at 7am on Friday.

The force said in a statement: "Detectives are also continuing to appeal for witnesses, particularly anyone who was in the area of Brandon Country Park, Bury Road or the surrounding streets, and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious.

"Any residents in the local area with a doorbell camera or private CCTV are also asked to review their footage, as well as anyone with motion activated dash-cam footage."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Major Investigation Team either by using the online portal at mipp.police.uk/operation/363718M87-PO1 or by calling 101 and quoting reference 37/17570/21.
