Louis Vuitton drops 'prestige' $2,280 ping pong set: 'They know how to take money'

A Louis Vuitton ping pong set will set ping pong enthusiasts and luxury fashion fans back almost $2,300. Is it worth it?

In the era of ludicrous luxury fashion, from Ye’s trash bag Gap collab to Balenciaga’s goofy shoe string earrings, no one can be surprised by Louis Vuitton’s latest move.

With just $1,000 and one day, this Harlem bedroom gets a brand new look:

The major fashion brand dropped the James Ping Pong set for a whopping $2,280. The French maison first debuted a ping pong set in 2017 as a stocking stuffer and the second iteration in 2019 for $2,210. Both of these versions were in black and gray, while the latest third edition is in the classic Louis Vuitton brown and tan colors.

“The exclusive design of the James ping pong set wins match point for prestige and functionality,” the product description states.

“This expertly crafted set of two table tennis rackets features a Monogram canvas cover and holder for four balls, which are also included. The zipper and wood handles both display an LV Circle.”

The set is made of natural cowhide, canvas, wood and gold-color hardware — so not necessarily any expensive materials. However, the expensive ping pong set hardly stands out as ridiculous compared to other items currently available for sale.

“They know how to take money out of people who have it,” one Twitter user quipped.

There’s a set of $2,640 4-pound weights, an $810 jump rope and a $4,600 chess game available for the well-funded aesthetes out there.

Watch this bland Brooklyn bedroom become a mid-century modern escape in just one day:
