Achieving a perfect glossy lid is easier than you think! In this episode of Make Me Up, host Melanie Sutrathada (@melaniesutra) shows how to achieve a fun and vibrant glossy eyelid using just two products. It’s the perfect look for date night, going out on the town, or strutting your stuff on the red carpet. This is one makeup trend that went viral for good reason! It’s playful, pretty, and surprisingly easy to master.
“I first saw this on a red carpet, and I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? This is freaking cute and beautiful and also not at all something I can wear in real life,’” Melanie explains. “But then I found some products that allowed me to wear it in real life.”
Melanie starts by grabbing a Laura Mercier Caviar Stick. She explains that, while there are plenty of products you can use for this step, she loves this particular eye shadow stick because it’s super pigmented and easy to blend. “One swipe and that’s basically all you need,” she says. “It is so elegant.”
Melanie adds a bit of the eye shadow to her eyelids, then uses her finger to blend it in. “Every once in a while, I like to put a primer on, but I found this actually stays without it, so why put on extra product when you don’t need it?” she says. Melanie explains that, while you can use a brush to blend the eye shadow, a finger works just fine if you’re pressed for time.
Next up, it’s time to add a bit of shine! Melanie chooses the Morphe Gloss Pop Face & Eye Gloss, which she claims is the “king” of multitasking products. “It’s a clear gloss that can not only be used on many different parts of your face, but especially on your lips, which I love,” Melanie explains. “This is something that I’ll throw in my bag any time I go anywhere, so I’ll have a little something that can make me sparkle.”
Melanie starts by adding the gloss to her eyelids, making them shine. Then, she adds the impressively versatile product to her cheeks and lips. The goal, she explains, is to create a bold, attention-grabbing look. “If you can’t see me from space with my highlights, did I put enough on?” she asks. “That was a trick question. The answer is no, absolutely I did not put enough on.”
Once Melanie has added the final dab of gloss to her lips, her glossy look is complete! With just two products, Melanie has created a glamorous look that would be at home on any red carpet.
