KFC customer sparks drama with response to botched chicken order: ‘That’s a scam’

A woman is being called a “Karen” by her daughter for asking to speak to the manager at a KFC.

The mom posted her story on Reddit’s “Am I the A******” forum. She ordered a bucket of fried chicken with 24 pieces at KFC. However, when she only counted 21 pieces in her order, she demanded the missing three. The subsequent exchange with KFC staff left her daughter embarrassed.

“I decided to count the bits of chicken in the bucket as the KFC woman was putting them in,” the mom explained. “There were 21 pieces. When I said there were only 21 in the bucket instead of 24, she insisted that there was the full amount and I was mistaken. I assured her I was not. The manager overheard us and backed the employee and said it looked like there were 24 pieces in the bucket and handed it to me. At this point, I took out those disposable plates, laid them on the counter and counted out 21 (not 24) chicken pieces.”

The mother then demanded that the issue be resolved.

“I then said I either want my three pieces or a refund because this is not what I had paid for,” the mom wrote. “The manager apologized and ended up giving us three extra, so six more in total. My daughter was mortified about the whole thing and said that I was being a total ‘Karen.’ I disagree because I had a valid complaint that the staff wouldn’t even consider.”

Reddit users sided with the mom on this one.

“That’s a scam that could make the manager some cash if they didn’t get caught,” a user said.

“You deserve to get what you paid for,” someone else wrote.

“You paid for a certain number of items and that is what you should receive,” a third person commented.
