Yahoo Finance Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez Break Silence Over Breakup Reports
Love might not be dead after all. If you were heartbroken after learning that Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez called off their engagement, you can put your tissues away. The couple recently gave a statement to TMZ, saying that they're still together.
"All the reports are inaccurate," the statement read. "We are working through some things." TMZ also was told what they're working through has nothing to do with a third party.
That said, People, Us Weekly, Page Six, TMZ, and E! News all confirmed their split on Friday. That means that either pretty much every celeb outlet got it wrong or J.Lo and A-Rod don't want people to know that they've broken up. Although, TMZ's source says they were "bad" on Friday when the news broke, they're still together. So, maybe those insiders spoke a little too quickly.
The "third party" mentioned refers to the rumors about A-Rod FaceTiming with Southern Charm star Madison LeCroy. Scandalous, I know. But, there is speculation that he was cheating with Madison, which she denies. “That’s the truth,” she previously said, adding they’ve “never been physical…never had any kind of anything. Just an acquaintance."
However, a source tells People that it makes sense that Jennifer and Alex split. "This has been a long time coming," the insider says. "They are tied in their business worlds so it's not a cut and dry breakup. It's taken a while for them to even think about untangling it all."
Before news of the breakup broke, Jennifer explained in January why she and Alex postponed their wedding—twice. "We had planned what we really, really wanted to do, [but] I don't know if we'll be able to re-create that," she told Elle. "We canceled it, and since then we haven't really talked about it. There's no rush. We want to do it right when we can do it."
