Free agent Jack Wilshere has earned a short-term deal with Bournemouth after impressing during training.

The former Arsenal midfielder has been without a club following the mutual termination of his contract at West Ham in October.

It ended an unhappy two years with the Hammers, who he supported as a child, with his perennial injury problems restricting Wilshere to just 19 appearances across two years. Only once did he complete a full 90 minutes.

The 29-year-old said in October on his future: "It is important to find a club where I am going to play, be an important player and be happy.

"I don't want to rush into anything. It has to be the right team in the right country."

Three and a half months later and Wilshere has been given an opportunity with Bournemouth in the Championship.

Wilshere spent time on loan with the Cherries during the 2016-17 season, making 28 appearances, and returned to the club in December to work on his fitness.

The BBC report that Wilshere could be available to make his debut in Tuesday's trip to Derby.
