Independent Non-Executive Director Erica Mann Just Bought A Handful Of Shares In Blackmores Limited (ASX:BKL)

Potential Blackmores Limited (ASX:BKL) shareholders may wish to note that the Independent Non-Executive Director, Erica Mann, recently bought AU$151k worth of stock, paying AU$101 for each share. Although the purchase is not a big one, by either a percentage standpoint or absolute value, it can be seen as a good sign.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Blackmores

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Independent Non-Executive Director Wendy Stops for AU$171k worth of shares, at about AU$68.20 per share. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of AU$97.68. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.

In the last twelve months Blackmores insiders were buying shares, but not selling. They paid about AU$80.95 on average. We don't deny that it is nice to see insiders buying stock in the company. However, we do note that they were buying at significantly lower prices than today's share price. For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Blackmores insiders own 21% of the company, currently worth about AU$389m based on the recent share price. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
