Half-price specials: Best Woolworths, Coles deals this week

Woolworths and Coles each week sell a range of grocery items at half price.

These "loss leaders" are designed to lure shoppers into their stores – and keep them away from the rival – with the hope that full price products in the trolley will make up the lost profits.

The specials also distinguish the two big chains from emerging threat Aldi. The budget supermarket does have weekly discounts of its own, but they are not quite as good as 50 per cent off.

Yahoo Finance has once again done the run around for you to pick out the best half-price products this week. After comparing the two supermarkets side-by-side, you can decide which one to visit for your grocery shop.
