Girl walks in on her roommate sobbing to ‘Iris’ by Goo Goo Dolls: ‘It be like that sometimes’

We’ve all got that one song that reduces us to tears, right? Well, one girl got all in her feels while listening to a classic ’90s rock ballad — and her roommate captured it on video.

A recent video posted by TikToker @vaginatar1an has resonated with some seriously nostalgic and emotional users. In the video, @vaginatar1an unexpectedly walks in on her roommate “sobbing” to “Iris” by Goo Goo Dolls. As ’90s alternative rock fans know, the massive hit song was originally written for the soundtrack of 1998’s City of Angels.

“Just came home to my roommate sobbing to a lyric video of Iris,” she writes. @vaginatar1an‘s roommate can be seen crying while singing the lyrics to the song.

“the lyric video makes this so real. reading lyrics to a song while they’re being sung makes me cry harder”

The video, while just 11 seconds long, has other TikTokers feeling a type of way. Many of them can’t help but feel “seen” by this girl’s emotional attachment to the hit ’90s song.

“it be like that sometimes,” someone wrote.

“No one tell her to watch the Iris goo goo dolls live in Buffalo version on YouTube,” another said, referencing the band’s live performance of the song on July 4, 2004.

“the lyric video makes this so real,” a user commented. “reading the lyrics to a song while they’re being sung makes me cry harder.”

We don’t blame @vaginatar1an‘s roommate for sobbing and singing her heart out to “Iris” like she did. Why? Because we’d probably do the same.
