A Melbourne dad is scoring free beers at pubs and bars across the city thanks to a little-known Flybuys hack.

Marc Boswell has redeemed hundreds of dollars worth of free drinks using Pub & Bar gift vouchers, which work like regular eftpos cards.

Aussies can currently redeem 10,000 Flybuys points for a $50 gift card and 20,000 points for a $100 gift card.

The dad-of-two said he’d managed to amass a ton of Flybuys points by completing surveys through the Flybuys app. He first started doing the surveys four years ago after his daughter was born.

“When my daughter was born, she was a terrible sleeper so we used to have to sit in her room in the dark until she went to sleep,” he told Yahoo Finance.

“So, naturally, I was just playing on my phone and came across these surveys for Flybuys points and ended up doing those and was doing a couple of those a day.”

He currently does the Pureprofile surveys, which have a partnership with Flybuys. Previously, he also did Peanut Labs surveys, but they are no longer affiliated with Flybuys.

“Some of them are five minutes, others might be 20 minutes and you get hundreds, sometimes thousands, of Flybuys points for it,” he said.

“I never really stopped doing those, and watched the points accumulate pretty quickly from that.”

Aside from the surveys, Boswell also racks up Flybuys points by shopping at Coles and activating offers through the app, buying alcohol at First Choice and taking advantage of any Flybuys offers.

“If there are any points-accumulation offers on through Coles for pantry items that don’t go off, we sometimes buy those in bulk as well,” he said.

Along with scoring hundreds of dollars worth of free beers, Boswell said he and his family went to the Gold Coast for a holiday last year and used Flybuys points to cover all their accommodation for a week.

How to earning Flybuys points with surveys

To earn points, sign into your Flybuys account and select 'Pureprofile Perks' from the 'Surveys' section under 'Offers'.

Flybuys will then redirect you to the Pureprofile website, where you can complete surveys. You'll need to set up a user profile to get started.

Flybuys says the surveys only take a few minutes to complete and you'll get a notification about how many points you've collected. The points will land in your account within two weeks.
