Former Lorna Jane employee told to 'live off coffee' sues

A Brisbane woman is suing fitness fashion outlet Lorna Jane for more than half a million dollars, claiming she was told to eat less.

Amy Robinson worked at the chain’s Brisbane Airport DFO store for six months during 2012 and in that time was encouraged to live off coffee and go to the gym to meet the company motto.

Ms Robinson is a size 14 and also said she was bullied by management about her weight and worked in unsafe conditions.

“I'm a mum with kids, and a senior staff member would constantly suggest I skip lunch, or make offhand comments about my lifestyle choices,' Ms Robinson told The Courier-Mail.

“We were meant to be nourishing our bodies but we were never allowed to do that.”

A Lorna Jane spokeswoman has categorically denied the allegations and said the company will “fearlessly defend” the case in court.
