Falcons' OL Ty Sambrailo scores historic 35-yard, big-man touchdown

You love a big-man touchdown. We love a big-man touchdown.

On Sunday, Atlanta Falcons offensive tackle Ty Sambrailo, who is 6-foot-5, 311 pounds, scored in the first quarter, but it wasn’t just any big-man score: According to Pro Football Reference, it was the longest touchdown by an offensive lineman in NFL history.

With a little more than four minutes gone in the first quarter and lined up for first-and-5 from the Tampa 35, Sambrailo checked in as eligible and lined up on the right side of the line. On the snap he had a free release down the seam, caught the ball at the 23, and was never touched before he crossed the goal line.

As you can imagine, the team celebration was rowdy.

A second-round pick of the Denver Broncos in 2015 who has been with the Falcons since 2017, Sambrailo has been a reserve lineman for Atlanta this season, playing in 13 games with no starts.
