European stocks mixed at open, after festive break

Europe's main stock markets opened mixed on Thursday following an extended break amid the region's festive holiday season.

London's FTSE 100 index of top companies fell 0.15 percent to 5,945.45 points compared with its previous trading session on Monday.

The Paris CAC 40 edged up 0.04 percent to 3,654.09, also compared with Monday's close, while in Frankfurt the DAX 30 climbed 0.21 percent to 7,652.27 points compared with its previous trading session on Friday.
