Portuguese and Spanish authorities have seized 5.2 tonnes of cocaine from a sailboat on the high seas and arrested three suspects, in Portugal's largest drug bust in 15 years and a world-record haul from a sailboat, police said on Monday. With the cocaine bales piled up behind him at a naval base across the river Tagus from Lisbon, Luis Neves, director of Portugal's criminal investigation police, said the haul represented the largest amount of cocaine ever seized from a sailboat globally. Authorities discovered 183 cloth sacks full of cocaine, destined for the continental European market, inside the sailboat in the Atlantic Ocean, around 550 kilometres from Portugal's coast.

International Monetary Fund staff and Ukraine have reached an agreement on economic reforms that will pave the way for a first review of the country's 18-month stand-by arrangement and its request for an extension through the end of June, the IMF said in a statement. The agreement and the request for program extension are subject to approval by IMF management and the executive board, which is expected to address the matter in November. Ukraine signed the $5 billion IMF program last year but the loans were effectively frozen over concerns about reforms.
Five Wall Street firms including Jefferies and Barclays initiated research coverage of Argo Blockchain (NASDAQ: ARBK) on Monday, with buy ratings – all of them expecting the firm’s Texas crypto mining facility to be a catalyst for the shares to move higher.
