Texas, the No. 6 seed in the NCAA women's tournament, upset No. 2 Maryland on Sunday night in a thrilling 64-61 win. Everyone loves a good tourney upset, and this time "everyone" included Drake.

Drake, the rapper with many rooting interests, came out in support of Texas after itsI win. He posted his good wishes in an Instagram story.

Celebrity fans are great, especially for women's college teams that don't get the national attention they richly deserve. But like a coin, there are two sides to this. One side is the Drake-loves-Texas feel-good story. The other side is Drake inflicting his sports curse on the unsuspecting women of Texas.

The Drake Curse might not be dead

Up until the Toronto Raptors, his favorite team, became NBA champs in 2019, the Drake Curse was a very real thing. Pretty much every team and athlete he publicly supported went on to lose.

He posted a photo with Conor McGregor in 2018 before McGregor lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov.

He came out in support of Alabama before it got shellacked by Clemson in January 2019.

With everyone talking about the Drake Curse, he tried to outsmart it by wearing a sweatshirt that featured all four of the remaining NFL playoff teams, ignoring the fact that three of those four teams would go on to lose.

Drake's support of one of his hometown teams backfired in April 2019 when he went to a Toronto Maple Leafs playoff in a Maple Leafs shirt. They lost and fans begged him to stop publicly sharing his love for the city's sports franchises.

That's just a small sampling of Drake's presence or support cursing a sports team. When the Raptors won it all, that was supposed to be the end of the Drake Curse. But with Drake publicly throwing his support to Texas, that will be put to the test on Wednesday when Texas faces No. 1 South Carolina.
