Commonwealth Bank outage: online banking, EFTPOS down

Commonwealth Bank customers were in for a rude shock this morning after an outage across the bank’s network left them unable to access their money.

Customers vented on Twitter saying they had lost access to some of their accounts including credit accounts and mortgages.

Others complained they were unable to withdraw cash from ATMs.

On Twitter, the bank described the issue as "intermittent technical issues with our systems" and assured customers they were urgently investigating the situation.

The latest incident comes after a major network failure in April that left customers unable to access a range of services including ATMs, EFTPOS, Commsec, phone services and online banking.

Update: Around 10:20 am, the bank said the services were restored.
