SHANGHAI, Sept 28 (Reuters) - China on Tuesday reported 31 new confirmed coronavirus cases in the mainland for Sept. 27, compared with 35 a day earlier, according to the National Health Commission.

Of the new infections, 13 were locally transmitted, the health authority said. That compared with 13 local cases the day before.

Eleven of the new local cases were found in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang province in the country's northeast, while two were reported in the city of Xiamen in Fujian province in the southeast.

China reported 7 new asymptomatic coronavirus cases, which it does not classify as confirmed infections, compared with 20 a day earlier. No new deaths were reported.

As of Sept. 27, China had recorded 96,081 confirmed cases, with the cumulative death toll at 4,636. (Reporting by Brenda Goh and Liangping Gao; Editing by Tom Hogue)
