‘Unique oasis’: Aussies obsessed with sprawling Queensland estate

It’s no secret that Australians love property, but this week, they obsessed over one house in particular.

But calling it a ‘house’ isn’t accurate either, given the home is a 6-bedroom, 3-storey homestead that sits on 55 sprawling acres.

With five garage spaces, six bathrooms and comfortably sleeping nine, the house at 1 Caballo Road, Guanaba in Queensland is currently seeking expressions of interest.

“Steeped in history, this unique oasis effortlessly blends contemporary Queensland living with the charm of classic sophistication,” the realestate.com.au listing states.

“Surrounded by a breathtaking landscape of perfectly manicured lawns, a serene lake, grazing fields and a macadamia tree plantation, 'Rivermead Estate' evokes a sense of escape and is the ultimate residence to leave the everyday world behind and immerse yourself in the now.”

The property is surrounded by perfectly manicured lawns that surround it on all sides, and nestled between the main property and the guest house is an “oversized pool and spa”.

The main dining room can host 12 seated guests, adorned with pendant chandeliers, while a kitchen with a stone bench and island offers a casual dining option.

But if its future owner, or their guests, needed some time away from the crowd, the property has two other dining rooms to recline in.

No effort has been spared on the master suite, which opens out to a wraparound verandah, a walk-in wardrobe, an ensuite with a bath. But it’s not the only bedroom with an ensuite; three of the other five bedrooms have this feature, too.

There’s no chance anyone will get bored on this property, as it comes with an in-home cinema and a billiard and games room, equipped with a fireplace and a bar; or relax in the sauna after perusing your beverage collection in the wine cellar.

If you’re feeling active, work out in the fully equipped gym, have a swing in the tennis court, or hang out in the basketball court or tournament-size polo field.

There’s no doubt that the property was designed for entertaining; if you’re an old hand at outdoor cooking, make use of the fire pit or the outdoor teppanyaki bar.

The house also has a three-bedroom guest house on the other side of the pool that has a separate entry from the main house.

Oh – and in case you need it, the property also comes with a helipad.

The property is only a 25 minute drive from Gold Coast’s CBD, which gives you reprieve from city life without being too remote.

The estate might be out of budget for most Aussies – but that hasn’t stopped us from looking.
