A luxurious Byron Bay hinterland estate has taken the crown for the most expensive property sold in the 2022-23 financial year.

Realestate.com.au has revealed the top sales that appeared on the platform this past financial year, with prestigious Sydney properties dominating the list.

Five of the top 10 properties were located in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, two were in the city’s northern beaches, and two were in Melbourne’s Toorak.

Here’s a look inside the top 5 properties.

1. 294 Picadilly Hill Road, Coopers Shoot, NSW - $37 million

Byron Bay estate ‘The Range’ was the most expensive sale of the year, selling for $37 million in April.

The Spanish-influenced home was sold by Tom and Emma Lane, the couple behind Byron Bay’s The Farm and heirs to the Oroton fashion empire.

Featuring a striking modernist style, ‘Portovenere’ sold for a whopping $32.18 million in May.

The waterfront property features seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms, and is set on three blocks at Clontarf in Sydney’s northern beaches.

3. 5 Yar Orrong Road, Toorak, Vic - $32 million

This sprawling country estate is located in the heart of Toorak and sold for $32 million in November last year.

The European-style estate features eight bedrooms and six bathrooms and is set behind high sandstone walls and tall, iron front gates.

4. 53-55 Cranbrook Road, Bellevue Hill, NSW - $30 million

Sold for $30 million in February, this grand Bellevue Hill property offers panoramic harbour views stretching from Clifton Gardens across Manly, Rose Bay and through to Bondi.

The ‘Monkton’ estate was designed to deliver the warmth of a Tuscan villa and features a number of entertaining spaces and park-like grounds.

5. 3 Macquarie Road, Toorak, Vic - $29.5 million

Rounding out the top five is another Toorak property located just two minutes’ walk from 5 Yar Orrong Road.

The property, which sold for $29.5 million in February, features rolling lawns and gardens, a tennis court, along with a resort-style pool complex.
