Business leaders to gather at Yahoo Finance All Markets Summit

The inaugural Yahoo Finance All Markets Summit will be held in Sydney for the first time on Thursday 26 September 2019.
The inaugural Yahoo Finance All Markets Summit will be held in Sydney for the first time on Thursday 26 September 2019.

After many successful years as a key date in the New York business calendar, the Yahoo Finance All Markets Summit will be coming to Sydney for the first time.

It could not have arrived on Australian shores in more challenging, uncertain and exciting times.

Today the world feels like a volatile place, driven by erratic leadership in Washington, Brexit dividing Britain and Europe, long-running protests in Hong Kong, escalating trade tensions with China and the rise of populism around the globe.

In today’s world, a tweet can send global stock markets into meltdown, while artificial intelligence and machine learning are changing businesses and threatening traditional jobs.

Today our workplaces need to be inclusive of multiple generations, from baby boomers to digital natives. And today, the looming impact of climate change has become a stark and shocking reality of our daily lives.

But every tumultuous period in history brings opportunity.

As we journey into these uncertain headwinds, we have the chance to shape tomorrow, to influence change and lead the way forward. That’s why the theme for the summit is how people and businesses can prepare for what might lie ahead.

We’ve brought together the best minds in business, academia, finance and entrepreneurship to explore what we need to do to “shape tomorrow”.

At the Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney tomorrow, we’ll hear from:

  • The Hon Peter Costello AC | On the future of Australia

  • Virgin Australia CEO, Paul Scurrah | On navigating global economic headwinds

  • OzHarvest CEO, Ronni Kahn AO | On how to build a company with purpose

  • Dr Sean Gallagher, Swinburne University | On reimagining the concept of work

  • MP Clare O’Neil | On the future of work, tech and innovation

  • Airwallex CEO & Founder, Lucy Liu | On building a billion dollar company

  • Cicada Innovations CEO, Sally-Ann Williams | On the deep technologies solving global issues

  • Freelancer CEO, Matt Barrie | On the global marketplace and the workforce of the future

  • Dr Amantha Imber | On how leaders can find focus in a digital age

  • Founder, The Digital CEO, Stephen Scheeler | On how to become a disruptive leader in a digital age

  • PictureWealth Chairman, Neal Cross | On innovation and why the future isn’t digital

  • Futurist, Danielle Di-Masi | On creating the best digital experience for your customer

  • AFG Venture Group MD, Lindley Edwards | On the challenges facing Australia’s finance industry

  • Author, Amanda Stevens | On how to connect with the consumer of the future

  • Economist, Stephen Koukoulas | On what can fix Australia’s economy

Our distinguished and diverse guests will inspire debate and provoke thought around how businesses, entrepreneurs, investors and everyday Australians can navigate the changes and adapt to the future.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow at what we believe will be the first of many Sydney editions of Yahoo Finance All Markets Summits. We look forward to hosting the conversations that will shape tomorrow.
