Bizarre detail in bride's dress leaves people baffled: 'Oh yikes'
A bride has left people baffled over a bizarre detail in her wedding dress — not to mention her unusual choice of bouquet.
In the photo that was shared in a ‘wedding shaming’ Facebook group, the woman is seen posing in an off-the-shoulder lace gown with a plunging neckline that’s overlaid with a mesh panel. Instead of the traditional bunch of flowers, she’s holding what looks to be a potted green plant.
“Random Instagram photo - that mesh on the neckline and the fact she’s holding a bunch of spinach?!” wrote the Facebook user who uploaded the image.
Confused comments from other users came in thick and fast, with many baffled by the mesh feature which doesn’t quite match the bride’s skin tone.
“That mesh just looks like a weird tan tho...” wrote one.
“I was like ‘HOW did she get a reverse tan line??!?!”’” remarked another.
One user simply said, “Oh yikes. Honey...”

Mesh mishap
Others joked that the mesh was a ‘glass partition’ while one user had their own odd theory.
“The edge of that mesh looks like it was a turtleneck and she just cut it with safety scissors,” they speculated.
Someone with a bit of dressmaking knowledge piped up to defend the mesh, explaining that it was necessary to prevent the bodice from slipping down particularly as the deep ‘v’ neckline has very little structural support.
“Most deep v wedding dresses have mesh, but it blends with the skin better and is actually cut straight so, shame,” they wrote.
As for the ‘spinach’ bouquet, it didn’t take long for plant-loving Facebook users to identify the plant as pothos or Devil’s Ivy, a popular house plant.
“Please leave the pothos out of this train wreck,” one commenter deadpanned.
“Maybe that’s all she could afford. Don’t judge people!” another pointed out.
The bride’s identity was also partially revealed when a user claiming to be her friend popped up in the comments to declare that she’s a model and it was all just for a portfolio photoshoot.
“This is a friend of mine! She’s a model and this wasn’t a real wedding! [I don’t know] why they had her hold a plant...” they wrote.
“My guess is the photographer told her to pick up the plant so that it would look artsy or something. I’ve been in similar situations when collaborating with local photographers! There are some AWFUL photos of me floating around,” they explained.
