Big Bang Reunion: Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik to Reprise Sheldon and Amy in Young Sheldon’s Series Finale

Big Bang boom!

Five years after Big Bang Theory‘s 2019 series finale, Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will reprise their roles as Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler in Young Sheldon’s series finale, airing Thursday, May 16 (CBS, 8/7c).

This will mark the first time that Parsons and Bialik have appeared together on Young Sheldon, and the first time that anyone from Big Bang will appear in person, on screen, on the wildly successful prequel series.

Parsons, who is an executive producer on the spinoff, has served as narrator on all seven seasons, while Bialik has reprised Amy and served as co-narrator on two episodes.

Storyline details are being kept under wraps.

Young Sheldon, which stars Iain Armitage as the future theoretical physicist, is told from the perspective of a more mature Sheldon, who is older than the version we last saw on Big Bang. Through his narration, we’ve learned that Sheldon and Amy go on to have multiple children — including a son named after Sheldon’s best friend, Leonard Hofstadter.

As previously reported, the prequel will be followed by a second Big Bang offshoot centered on Sheldon’s older brother Georgie (played by Montana Jordan) and his bride-to-be Mandy (Emily Osment), which is slated to premiere on CBS during the 2024-25 TV season. Series co-creator Chuck Lorre is also working on a third Big Bang Theory series — a top-secret project “derived from” the CBS mega-hit that is earmarked for streaming service Max.

Scroll down to get caught up to speed on Parsons and Bialik’s previous, off-camera Young Sheldon reunions.

Bialik first reunited with Parsons in Young Sheldon‘s Season 4 premiere. During the episode, the Coopers gathered to commemorate Sheldon’s high school graduation, at which point Adult Sheldon (voiced by Parsons) said that “it was the best graduation party I had been to… until we had one for my son, Leonard Cooper.

“I wanted his name to be Leonard Nimoy Cooper, but Amy wouldn’t let me,” he revealed. That’s when Bialik chimed in as Sheldon’s better half and said, “Be lucky I let you name him Leonard.”

Bialik then returned for Season 5, Episode 16 — “A Suitcase Full of Cash and a Yellow Clown Car” — an episode focused on relationships. Husband and wife began with a discussion on jealousy that culminated in Dr. Cooper mansplaining the origins of jealousy to Dr. Fowler. In response, the accomplished neuroscientist reminded her hubby that she, too, has a Nobel Prize — a direct reference to Big Bang‘s swan song.

Next came a conversation about the element of mystery. “That’ll keep a relationship on its toes,” Sheldon argued. Amy then reminded her hubby that he keeps a bathroom schedule on their refrigerator. “We have no mystery!” she exclaimed.
