The most exclusive list of Australians has welcomed a couple of new names this year.

There are 17 “debutants” to the 2019 AFR’s Rich List 200, with the “ten-digit club” rising from three members to four.

Leading the elite club is paper and packing mogul Anthony Pratt, who has held the title of Australia’s richest man for the third year in a row with an eye-watering $15.57 billion to his name.

He’s followed by iron ore magnate Gina Rinehart ($13.81 billion) and apartment developer Harry Triguboff ($13.54 billion), with the club also welcoming newcomer Shimao Group chairman Hui Wing Mau – worth $10.39 billion – to the list.

Rounding out the top five but not quite making the cut to Australia’s most exclusive club is Atlassian co-founder Scott Farquhar, who has $9.75 billion to his name.

How do the richest make their money?

Despite the housing downturn, property remains the top source of wealth for these rich listers.

“All of the property developers increased their wealth, led by Harry Triguboff (3) whose fortune rose from $12.77 billion to $13.54 billion,” the AFR said.

Meanwhile, the fastest way to wealth is through technology: the 2019 Rich List has a record number of 14 tech entrepreneurs, which include Atlassian founders Scott Farquhar and Mike Cannon-Brookes.

Who are the richest women?

Unsurprisingly, Rinehart tops this list with a treasure chest of $13.81 billion.

Her daughter Bianca Rinehart is right after, albeit with a lower figure of $3.61 billion.

Prudence MacLeod, Rupert Murdoch’s eldest child and daughter, is third on the list with $3.1 billion under her belt.

Rounding out the top five are also mining magnates Angela Bennett ($2.62 billion) and Alexandra Burt and Leonie Baldock with $2.38 billion.
