Snag a deal this International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is all about celebrating the incredible women in our lives and reflecting on the work that still needs to be done to reach gender equality around the world.

But apparently it’s also an opportunity to snag a bargain, with a few retailers offering special discounts today.

Women’s Day 2021 sales

If you’re in the market for a new pair of leggings (which I personally always am), Lorna Jane has taken 20% off all their full priced leggings and tights today only. Meanwhile Bondi Sands has slashed 30% off their tanning products in an online-only offer for International Women’s Day.

You can also pick up a good read at Booktopia, which is offering markdowns on books in their Women’s Day edit which includes ‘Women of a Certain Rage’, a collection of 20 Aussie women’s stories of anger and how they’ve used it to inspire change, and Turia Pitt’s latest book, ‘Happy and Other Ridiculous Aspirations’.

Bobbi Brown is marking the day by giving away a free, three-piece gift to anyone who spends over $100 today, and throwing in an extra makeup bag if you spend over $150, and Nasty Gal is discounting their ‘Babe with The Power’ collection which includes cute T-shirts with feminist slogans and the faces of some of history’s most iconic women.

Brands giving back to women in 2021

A handful of retailers are doing their part this International Women’s Day by donating 100% of profits made to women’s charities.

Money from any item bought at Mimco today will go to Our Watch, a charity working to stop violence against women and children in Australia, while L’Occitane will donate everything they make from the sales of this $15 hibiscus hand cream to NGO projects promoting women’s leadership in Burkina Faso.

Similarly, Net-A-Porter is supporting Women for Women International, helping female survivors of war rebuild their lives, with profits from its International Women’s Day edit.

The collection includes a set of three Roxanne Assoulin bracelets, an organic cotton-jersey ‘Womanhood’ T-shirt from Tove, and a gold Alighieri necklace with an abstract pendant inspired by Greek hunter goddess, Artemis.

For every $90 pair of Grace pants sold by Forever New between today and March 22, $9 will be donated to Dress for Success, an organisation helping women achieve economic independence. Michael Hill is also giving $10 from the sale of these $19 heart stud earrings to the same foundation throughout the month of March.

If you miss out on any of these special offers, you can always check out local social enterprises that are donating to women’s causes every day of the year.

Melbourne-based activewear brand Moody gives 100% of its profits to women’s mental health charities, while stationary brand Words With Heart, funds education projects for women and girls, and every baby swaddle from Mama Maya buys a clean birthing kit for a mum in a developing country.
