Aussie cleaner reveals insane pay she earns ‘telling people what to do’

The Aussie woman shared she was making roughly $300,000 a year, despite only starting up her cleaning company seven months ago.

A woman has revealed the staggering amount she makes as the owner of a cleaning business, leaving Aussies divided.

The Aussie was stopped in the streets of Brisbane and asked about her job and pay, revealing she was making a lucrative salary despite only starting up her business seven months ago.

“I run a cleaning company and I make roughly $300,000 a year,” she said in a video posted by jobs app Getahead.

She went on to share that she was “completely new” to the industry, having previously worked as an aged care nurse.

“The current admin job that I had was looking for contractors so I decided to start my own contracting company,” she said.

After being asked what her favourite thing about her job was, she responded she liked “telling people what to do” and enjoyed “the supervising and direction”.

The video has generated mixed reactions, with many people surprised by how much the business owner makes, and some arguing she must be referring to her business revenue rather than her take-home pay.

“7 months…300k a year?…I’m a little confused with this one,” one person said.

Others pointed out she would have to pay wages for her 10 staff, plus costs for cleaning products, equipment and other running expenses.

Sydney cleaner’s impressive salary

Cleaning business owners can bring home impressive salaries. Last year, Sydney woman Charlotte Bosanquet revealed she was earning thousands of dollars a week as the owner of a cleaning business, Care Cleaning Services.

In a TikTok video, the 21-year-old revealed she earned $3,745 in just one week. She worked no more than five hours per day, Monday to Friday, with her biggest daily earning being $630 for a 10:00am to 3:00pm shift.

At the time, she shared she normally worked half days and had eight employees who worked for her, which added to her pay. After expenses like accountant fees, insurance, invoicing, and petrol were deducted, she said she still brought home $3,515 per week.

According to SEEK, the average annual salary for a cleaner in Australia ranges from $55,000 to $65,000.

For business owners, Trusted Cleaner notes earnings will depend on the scope of the business, number of clients and service charges.

Initially, it estimates the average business can earn between $35,000 and $50,000 a year, but says this can grow to up to $100,000 a year as the business and client base grows.
