The ASX200 hit a record high of 6,876.1 points on Thursday following a strong night on Wall Street overnight, which saw all three main American indices also close at record highs.

The S&P/ASX200 index was up 19.2 points or 0.28 per cent to 6,869.8 at 10:15am, while the All Ordinaries was up 20.2 points, or 0.29 per cent to 6,970.8 points.

The Dow Jones Industrial average finished 0.16 per cent higher, while the S&P 500 was up 0.42 per cent and the Nasdaq Composite was up 0.66 per cent.

The strong performance on Wall Street was led by strong economic data and investors hopes of a resolution to the US-China trade conflict.
