Amazon Prime Day on now in Australia: Here are the best deals

Amazon Prime Day, which actually goes for 65 hours, has started – and Australian shoppers currently have first dibs, courtesy of our timezone.

Prime Day is a big annual sale event for Amazon's subscribers, which has been held for a few years in the US. In the US, Amazon kicked off the 2019 edition with a huge concert over the weekend featuring Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa.

But this is just the second year Australia is taking part.

Local deals started appearing from 12:01am Monday morning, while the rest of the world will join 5pm.

"Prime members in Australia are the first to get access to Prime Day deals… We are excited to bring Aussies the longest Prime Day in the world," said Amazon Australia country manager Rocco Braeuniger.

Amazon Prime costs $6.99 a month or $59 per year in Australia. In return, subscribers get benefits like free delivery, streaming service Prime Video, ad-free music, e-books via Prime Reading, and benefits for gamers through Twitch Prime.

The retailer does offer a free 30-day trial subscription that can be used to access the current Prime Day sale.

There are deals on clothing, shoes, televisions, kitchen, pantry groceries, toys, beauty, and smart home appliances.
