1. New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is set to meet Australian PM Scott Morrison on Friday to discuss trade, terrorism and the deportation of Kiwis from Australia on character grounds, the Guardian reported. Ardern told reporters, "We have seen cases where there is also almost no connection of an individual to New Zealand who have been deported” and said this is having "a corrosive effect" on relations between Australia and New Zealand.
2. Celebrity chef George Calombaris has been accused of owing $2000 in unpaid wages to a former waiter at the company he founded, Made Establishment. The former employee, who is an official at trade union Hospo Voice, also started a petition to have Calombaris removed from his role as a judge on Network Ten's Masterchef. The development follows Calombaris claiming he has "calculated and paid" all dues to staff after paying out $7.8 million in unpaid wages and super, and a $200,000 fine, in response to a Fair Work Ombudsman investigation.

3. US-Iran conflict escalates. President Donald Trump has confirmed that the US Navy has "destroyed" an Iranian drone he says was putting the ship's safety at risk. The incident follows Iran shooting down a US Navy RQ-4 Global Hawk in June, in a move that Trump initially called “a mistake.”
4. The latest jobs figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics have shown only 500 jobs were created across the country in June - just a fraction of the expected 9,000-10,000. While the results were underwhelming, Commonwealth Bank of Australia senior economist said the creation of more than 21,100 full-time jobs offset the disappearance of around the same number of part-time ones.

5. Atlassian has rolled out a new performance review system designed to create a better evaluation of how its employees are performing. Atltassian's Bek Chee told Business Insider Australia the company is weeding out "brilliant jerks" with technical skills and instead rewarding employees who live the company values.
6. Instagram removes the total number of likes on its platform in Australia. Users will no longer be able to see the total numbers on other people’s posts in a move designed to reduce some of the social pressure people feel on the platform.
7. Bill Gates is no longer the second-richest person in the world. Bernard Arnault, the chairman and CEO of luxury goods conglomerate LVMH (which owns Louis Vuitton and Sephora), has kicked Gates out of the global runner-up position.
8. Australia just got its newest digital bank - 86 400. Named after the number of seconds in a day, 86 400 has now been authorised to accept deposits and promises to be in operation later this year.
9. The viral FaceApp - which makes users look old using AI - has been downloaded by 12.7 million users since 10 June. Marketing intelligence company Sensor Tower found more users have downloaded the app in the past week than in the first six months of 2019. However, the Russian app has raised security concerns over what happens to the photos once their uploaded. Here's everything we know about the company behind it so far.
9. eBay's shares soar to its highest point in 15 months. The e-commerce giant's shares rose as much as 7% on Thursday, hitting their highest level since April 2018.
