Victims of the flooding in South-East Queensland in February this year have only a few days left to claim the disaster assistance payment.
The applications for the payment close on September 29, giving those who were affected less than a week to make a claim.
The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment is a lump sum payment of $1,000 for eligible adults and $400 for each eligible child under 16.

“You can claim this payment if you’ve been seriously affected as a direct result of the floods,” Services Australia said.
For example, you can claim the payment if your home was severely damaged or destroyed or you were seriously injured.
You also still have time to claim the Disaster Recovery Allowance for up to 13 weeks, starting from the date you lost income.
You can’t get the allowance if you get any of the following payments during your claim period:
An income support payment or pension
A Service Pension from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs
Self-Employment Allowance or the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) Allowance
