There are now well more than a handful of premium direct-to-consumer streaming options for American consumers. Consumers canceled 20% of their subscriptions in the last six months of the year, up from 15% in 2019 (when there wasn't a raging pandemic). There's really only one big reason consumers sign up for or cancel a subscription: content.
