Why you may want to wait to buy a new iPhone

In the market for a new iphone.

Unless you're in dire need, it might make sense for you to hold off for a couple of weeks.

Yahoo Finance's Dan Halley is here to explain why in this week's edition of Tech Support.

Be patient.

Is that the word?

Be patient, Brad.

Uh You know, the, the thing that's happening right now and I have an iphone 15 Pro Max because I'm Bougie.

Uh is that uh we're at the point where we're about to get a new iphone iphone launches every September.

It's like clockwork.

It's like the tides.

It's going to happen.

Right?

And so right now, if you're in need of a phone, just give it a sec.

Don't, don't go nuts, don't go out there, don't do it, don't do it.

Hold on to it.

Uh It's just because look, there's, there's two reasons, one, there's a shiny new phone coming out.

So you know why not do that.

But also because this thing is gonna go on sale.

And so, oh, phone call from my brother.

Um What you're gonna be able to do is get a uh a discounted version of the 15 or 14 at, at a much better price.

And so why waste money?

Now, Brad don't do it when you can save money later.

The other thing I wanna point out is, and this is separate from just, you know, the saving money aspect is Apple's coming out with a little thing called Apple Intelligence.

Uh I don't know if you know this, but Apple, they make their money selling iphones, right?

Uh They made it so that Apple Intelligence only works on the 15 Pro and then later phones.

So if you go out and you buy an iphone 15, you're not getting that Apple Intelligence even if you bought one last year.

So my suggestion is, look, if you want to hold out on, you know, uh, if you wanna save some money, hold off.

Right.

You can get the, uh, the, the cheaper 15 Pro uh, or the, the 15.

If you don't care about Apple Intelligence, if you're really thinking about going for intelligence, you think it's gonna be awesome.

I've been using it.

It's pretty cool so far.

Uh, then absolutely.

Hold off and get that 16 or the 15 Pro when it's cheaper, Dan.

Uh, we'll let you call your brother back and, uh, thank you for the advice for myself.

I'm still on that 12 Pro max.

Don't do it just yet.
