Turkish band finds inspiration from landfill

This Turkish band found inspiration...in a landfill

Location: Istanbul, Turkey

'Fungistanbul' band members made these instruments

out of discarded plastic items

They also created a series of music videos

to encourage people to take care of the environment

(SOUNDBITE) (Turkish) MUSICIAN HERMAN ARTUC SAYING:

"When we destroy the balance of nature, it becomes very difficult to recover it. Recycling is also an important issue in terms of creativity. Producing sounds from different objects around us is a new topic, there is actually a concept called "forward transformation." Transforming an existing, obsolete, discarded object into a more valuable musical instrument is an example of this. Now we can say that we are actually "forward transformationists" in that regard."
