(Bloomberg) -- Oil rose with OPEC boosting its expectation for this year’s demand recovery even as the pandemic continues to surge in many parts of the world.Futures rose 1% in New York, trading just above $60 a barrel, a level around which they have gyrated for almost four weeks. OPEC raised its forecast for oil consumption by 190,000 barrels a day for 2021, though lowered its outlook for the second quarter.Pockets of higher oil consumption are emerging worldwide as vaccinations climb. In the U.S., government figures showed miles traveled on highways over the Easter holiday period were the highest since March 2020. Inflation data showed the biggest increase since 2012 as signs of an economic rebound grow. The market has failed to shake off near-term demand concerns because of the resurgence of the virus. A flare-up of Covid-19 cases is leading to renewed restrictions in countries like India, where streets are emptying again as the nation tackles a new wave of infections. U.S. health officials called for an immediate pause in use of Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose Covid-19 vaccine over blood clot concerns.“Prices may be gaining today, but there is still a plethora of short-term hesitancy over Covid-19 breakouts and vaccine progress,” said Louise Dickson, analyst at Rystad Energy AS. Still, the market “will eventually give into long-term hope of vaccine campaigns doing their job and some economies returning to normal toward summer.”The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries expects the demand recovery to be strong enough to absorb the halted output the group and its allies plan to return over th next three months. Rising consumption will continue to erode stockpiles. For more articles like this, please visit us at bloomberg.comSubscribe now to stay ahead with the most trusted business news source.©2021 Bloomberg L.P.

United Airlines said on Tuesday it has partnered with global firms including Nike and Siemens in an 'Eco-Skies Alliance' to finance use this year of about 3.4 million gallons of low-carbon, sustainable aviation fuel derived from trash. Though tiny compared with the 4.3 billion gallons of jet fuel that United consumed in 2019 prior to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the amount triples the roughly 1 million gallons of sustainable fuel it has used each year since 2016. Airlines have used sustainable fuel since 2008 as part of efforts to reduce outright emissions, but so far this represents barely 1% of the fuel used worldwide, industry groups say.

TAMPA, Fla., April 13, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Healthmap Solutions, Inc. (Healthmap), an industry-leading Kidney Health Management (KHM) company, announces a new partnership with Florida Blue Medicare, the state’s Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medicare company. Effective May 1, 2021, Healthmap’s clinically-proven KHM program will be available to Florida Blue Medicare Advantage members living with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The KHM program is a provider and member driven kidney care solution that emphasizes greater awareness and early identification for members with kidney disease. The program also provides support and education for those members who have end stage renal disease (ESRD) to optimize renal replacement therapy with a focus on in-home dialysis treatment and transplant for appropriate members. The program enhances the physician-to-member relationship to ensure a clinically appropriate and seamless transition between the stages of kidney disease, and preemptively intervenes to avoid adverse and costly health care events for members with kidney disease. It also connects patients to community required services that might be needed to maintain access to services to enhance the continuity of care. The result is improved health outcomes, improved health care, and a longer and better quality of life for the patient, which ultimately will also provide lower overall cost. “Kidney disease is a serious illness that requires close management and a deep understanding of its impact to so many systems in our body. Slowing disease progression, offering in-home therapies, and focusing on care coordination for our members are the hallmarks of this partnership,” said Dr. Elizabeth Malko, vice president and chief medical officer for Florida Blue Medicare. Kidney disease is a pervasive, growing and costly health care issue in the United States that is under recognized, diagnosed and treated. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are 37 million people in the United States living with kidney disease, and 90% are unaware they have CKD until the disease progresses to its more serious stage, ESRD. An estimated 746,000 people are living with ESRD, and each year tens of thousands are newly diagnosed. Caring for patients with CKD/ESRD is complex, costly, and takes a significant toll on the patient and their caregivers. Medicare alone spent $120 billion in 2017 to care for people diagnosed with CKD and ESRD. Early detection, proper care and clinically-proven treatments are the most effective means of treating the disease, delaying its progression and enabling the patient to live a better and longer quality of life. “We are honored that Florida Blue Medicare has chosen to partner with Healthmap on this critically important program. We are intensely focused on improving the lives of CKD members. To be chosen by Florida Blue, an organization known for its emphasis on providing high quality care, is a testament to Healthmap’s value proposition,” said CEO and co-chairman of the Board Eric Reimer. Healthmap’s KHM program incorporates big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning and predictive analytics to identify patients living with CKD. Combined with clinical expertise, the program provides health care providers with actionable, data-driven, clinically proven insights and patient-centered care recommendations. The company's multidisciplinary Care Navigation team collaborates with health care providers to coordinate patient care and recommend services that can help to improve physical and mental health. Additionally, the Care Navigation team connects with patients to provide the support and information needed to help manage their health care. The program results are measured and reported against program metrics, which will optimize quality health care outcomes and improve total medical expense for the kidney population. About Healthmap SolutionsHealthmap Solutions is an NCQA accredited Kidney Health Management (KHM) company serving health plans, accountable care organizations (ACOs), and provider groups seeking value-based solutions that improve the clinical care and financial performance of high-risk, high-cost kidney patient populations. The company has a rich history forged in data and analytics, having begun as a healthcare data clearinghouse, and later adding robust health analytics expertise. Today, Healthmap Solutions uses that experience to power a complex KHM program with its clinical experts. For more information visit www.healthmapsolutions.com. The SaaS company connects transportation planners to reliable data that enhances and accelerates mobility intelligence and decision confidence, now increasing smart city capabilities across Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. John’s CountiesJACKSONVILLE, Fla., April 13, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Urban SDK, a connected mobility and safety analytics platform empowering cities to address their emerging needs for big data analysis, automation and predictive insights, today announces its partnership with the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) to help the agency modernize data collection and analytics. The planning organization will use Urban SDK’s platform to create a more synergistic approach to transportation planning and to more effectively understand the performance measures set forth by the government. Urban SDK provides planning organizations and departments of transportation (DOTs) across the United States with real-time data – ranging from weather to information captured by regional traffic cameras and cell towers – in one organized and easy-to-understand dashboard. From this dashboard, planners can evaluate data and use the platform's predictive analytics to make transportation planning decisions and assess and report performance metrics to the public. "Our goal is to continue bringing the concept of a smart city from dream to reality right here in North Florida, but you can’t build smart cities with paper and spreadsheets. Urban SDK’s technology is modernizing the planning sector in a way that helps us ultimately maintain citizen safety and decrease cost and commute times across our transportation system,” said Jeff Sheffield, executive director of the North Florida TPO. “Urban SDK’s platform is allowing us to better understand our performance measures, establish clear priorities and make data-driven decisions. The company’s entire approach to technology, along with its customer service, stands out from other players in this space.” Planning and transportation agencies throughout the country have unique data and reporting needs that Urban SDK can integrate into its platform and share with its entire client roster. This ultimately provides the SaaS company's clientele with the most dynamic data and reporting features. The platform also gives insight into how agencies throughout the country are reporting data to its constituents, therefore encouraging continued innovation. "We know each planning organization has specific needs, and our team is prepared to work with our clients to build additional widgets and products to improve and streamline dynamic data reporting," said Drew Messer, CEO and co-founder of Urban SDK. "The public sector is trying to adjust to operating like the private sector, and, as a SaaS company dedicated to innovation, we can work together organically as we figure out how to best modernize government entities." The efficiency of the platform allows government agencies to shift more funding toward planning studies, which allows planners to gather more resources required to create cities that best serve the current needs of its residents. The company recently announced the launch of its industry-first public reporting dashboard to further breakdown government barriers utilizing transparent data sharing tools. It also announced its collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Urban SDK is well-positioned to provide state and local government agencies across the United States with the necessary tools to plan the future's interconnected cities. Pursuant to the decision of the shareholders' meeting of September 22, 2020, the Management Board of JSC Olainfarm has filed a lawsuit against the former members of the Management Board of JSC Olainfarm. By the decision of the Vidzeme Suburb Court of Riga City on 12th of April 2021, a civil case has been initiated in the claim of JSC Olainfarm against former members of the Management Board who entered into an agreement with Banestar Management Limited, causing losses in the amount of EUR 26,067,760.05. In April of 2019, the Management Board of JSC Olainfarm became acquainted with the economic activities of the company and the previously signed contracts. It identified transactions regarding marketing outsourcing services from Banestar Management Limited, a company registered in Cyprus, which raised doubts about their potential fictitious nature, economic validity and legitimacy. In addition, the amount of the contract did not match the number of services received and the marketing activities were lacking supporting documentation. Initially, cooperation with the company was temporarily terminated, then completely suspended and the company turned to the State Police that initiated criminal proceedings about the situation, declaring the company a victim. The suspicious transactions occurred between 2 January 2017 and 4 April 2019. At the request of the person directing the criminal proceeding, in April 2019 JSC Olainfarm engaged an independent, international auditor to verify the reasonableness of business operations and the payment made for marketing services to the Cypriot company, realized by previous higher-level management. The auditor’s report, received in August 2019, indicates that an in-depth analysis confirmed – as a result of this transaction, potentially significant losses were caused to JSC “Olainfarm”. Milana Beļeviča, Member of JSC Olainfarm Management Board emphasizes: “JSC Olainfarm is currently on the path of transformation, improving the efficiency and management of the company. Our goal is to improve the transparency of internal processes and decision-making, as well as to prevent such risks in the future in order to ensure sustainable operation of the company and added value to the company's shareholders, employees, partners and society as a whole.” Olainfarm, a part of Olainfarm Group, is one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in the Baltic States offering high quality medicine and chemical pharmaceutical products. The Group’s business strategy “FORWARD” highlights the main company’s vision – to become one of the TOP10 Central and Eastern European manufacturing companies by 2025. With nearly 50 years of expertise, Olainfarm Group delivers sustainable healthcare products and services with added value to patients in more than 50 countries all over the world via its key subsidiaries – pharmaceutical company Olainfarm, food supplements & medical devices producer Silvanols, elastic & compression material producer Tonus Elast, pharmacy chain Latvijas Aptieka and healthcare & diagnostics centres DiaMed & OlainMed.
