KRYSTEN PEEK: In Big 12 news, Chris Beard is leaving Texas Tech and taking the head coaching job 175 miles away at the University of Texas.

Beard is a Texas alumni and obviously a fantastic hire for the Longhorns. He took Texas Tech to a national title game in 2019 and an Elite Eight appearance in 2018. He has an overall record of 112 and 55 at Texas Tech and will be taking over a Texas team that won the Maui Invitational this year and the Big 12 tournament.

As far as his replacement at Texas Tech, Abilene Christian head coach Joe Golding is a strong candidate after, oddly enough, upsetting Texas in the NCAA tournament this year.
