Tesla stock sank after its robotaxi debut disappointed investors.
Tesla (TSLA) delivered its long-awaited robotaxi event Thursday night, giving investors new insight into the autonomous vehicle. CFRA analyst Garrett Nelson joins Morning Brief to discuss his reaction to the event. "We were really disappointed by the lack of detail regarding their near-term and intermediate-term product roadmap," Nelson tells Yahoo Finance. He notes that there was no mention either of any developments in Tesla's other highly anticipated vehicles — the so-called Model 2 and the Roadster. "It was sort of like watching a movie with a lot of plot twists and special effects. And at the end, you're walking out kind of scratching your head," Nelson says of the event. After watching the event twice to "make sense of everything," he concludes, "It was really short on detail and long on special effects." The Producer Price Index (PPI) cooled month-over-month in September, holding steady while economists expected a 0.1% increase in prices. The inflation indicator did see gains of 1.8% year-over-year, above estimates for 1.6%. This all comes as the Federal Reserve considers whether to push through additional interest rate cuts at its November meeting or hold rates where they are. Major banks JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) and Wells Fargo (WFC) reported their third quarter earnings results, the former of which topped estimates while seeing profits fall by 2% year-over-year.\ Tesla (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk unveiled the EV maker's Cybercab at the company's Robotaxi Day last night, currently being priced at $30,000.
