Nissan Motor has halted production at its Changzhou plant in China as it seeks to optimise its operations, the Japanese automaker said on Friday. The Changzhou plant, jointly operated with Nissan's local partner Dongfeng Motor, was producing the Qashqai SUV with annual capacity of about 130,000 vehicles a year, a Nissan spokesperson said. The Nikkei business daily had earlier reported that Nissan was shutting the plant.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. auto safety regulators said on Monday they have opened an investigation into nearly 75,000 Nissan vehicles - the 2015 model year Rogue Select - over reports of unintended deployments of side airbags in some of them. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration probe was launched in response to reports of inadvertent deployments after the vehicle door is shut or slammed. The agency said such deployments could cause vehicle occupants to be injured or result in the loss of air bag protection.
Nissan Motor paid former Chief Operating Officer Ashwani Gupta $3.7 million in compensation following his sudden departure last year, the Japanese automaker disclosed in a notice for its annual general meeting. Nissan said in the notice it had paid 582 million yen ($3.7 million) to an executive officer who left his position during the 2023 business year. Gupta was the only executive officer to leave during that period, a company spokesperson confirmed.
