If Boeing avoids a strike, it would be 'huge win' for new CEO

Boeing (BA) reached a tentative agreement with the International Association of Machinists Districts 751 and W24 labor unions — which represent nearly 33,000 Boeing factory workers — over the weekend. One aspect of this deal is that Boeing promised a 25% pay increase for workers over the next four years. The current contract is still set to expire on Thursday, September 12. BofA aerospace research analyst Ron Epstein sees "further upside" in Boeing's stock as it moves higher Monday morning, noting the positive news for the aircraft manufacturer if effectively avoids a union strike. "So if they can get this behind them and this is just one less thing that they have to worry about, that's a that's a big win," Epstein says. "And then the second thing I would say, you have a new CEO who's been in the role for a couple of weeks. And if they can get through this without a strike, this would definitely be seen as, I think, a huge win for Kelly Ortberg. Like I said, who just hasn't been there that long, kind of setting up a new footing with labor." Boeing labor deal angers many union workers ahead of vote, official says

A tentative labor contract agreed between Boeing and one of its biggest unions has angered many workers who were hoping for higher wage hikes and better pensions, an official who negotiated the deal said on Monday. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), which represents more than 32,000 workers in the U.S. Pacific Northwest, announced the deal along with Boeing on Sunday, sending the aerospace giant's shares higher on Monday. It was not clear if IAM members would vote to accept the deal, or choose to strike when they hold a vote on Thursday, said Jon Holden, president of the IAM's district 751 and lead negotiator on the Boeing contract.

Exclusive-Boeing delays suppliers' 737 MAX output goal by 6 months, sources say

Boeing Co has told suppliers it is delaying a key production milestone for its 737 MAX by six months, three industry sources said, in a sign the planemaker is struggling to boost production of its best-selling jet. Boeing's latest 737 supplier master schedule communicated to the industry calls for MAX output to reach 42 a month in March 2025, compared with a previous target of September 2024, the sources told Reuters. Boeing has been struggling to recover production of its top single-aisle passenger plane due to additional safety and regulatory checks since a door panel dramatically flew off a 737 MAX jet in midair in January.
