Boeing is in 'deep trouble' as production struggles amid strike

Boeing (BA) is cutting 17,000 jobs amid the factory workers strike that has stretched into its fourth week. These job cuts represent 10% of Boeing's global workforce of over 170,000. To speak more on this breaking news, Boyd Group International president Mike Boyd joins Josh Lipton, Pras Subramanian, and Julie Hyman on Asking for a Trend. "They got no product to go forward with, they've got... a production limit, they can't deliver the [737 Max 10] like they're supposed to," Boyd tells Yahoo Finance. "We got an airline or an aircraft manufacturer that's in very, very deep trouble. And what they just did here may be just the beginning, because this is not a drill. Boeing is in deep, deep trouble." Taiwan's China Airlines says no political pressure on new aircraft order

Taiwan's China Airlines is not facing any political pressure on its decision about whether to buy Boeing or Airbus aircraft for a refreshment of its long-haul fleet, the company's chairman said on Saturday. Taiwan's largest carrier has been weighing Boeing's 777X and the Airbus A350-1000 as replacements for its fleet of 10 Boeing 777-300ERs, mostly used on U.S. and some high-density regional routes, according to industry sources. China Airlines Chairman Hsieh Shih-chien told reporters the company was still in the process of evaluating which aircraft to take and, asked if there was any political pressure on the decision, replied "no".
