Wasabi-flavored popcorn is now a thing, and yes, it will make your nose burn in the best way

There are no rules when it comes to food — just look at TikTok, where people swear by putting mustard on Oreos and create over-the-top butter boards. However, the gourmet microwave popcorn brand, Opopop, is going beyond weird with its limited-edition wasabi flavor.

Wasabi is no longer just for sushi!

Opopop first launched its limited-edition wasabi-flavored microwave popcorn in April 2022. However, it was so popular, the brand is bringing it back for a limited time. It’s savory, fiery and will make your nose burn in the best way. Wasabi is essentially Japanese horseradish, so it’s hot, but not spicy in the way chilies or hot sauce is.

If wasabi isn’t for you but spicy stuff is, you’ll be glad to know that this isn’t Opopop’s only hot flavor. The brand regularly sells its Chedapeño flavor, and as you can probably guess, it’s a cross between cheddar and jalapeño. It also has one called Maui Heat, which the brand describes as “hot like lava, sweet like pineapple.”

Opopop’s microwave popcorn is different from the standard kernels you buy at the store because each one is coated in flavor, and they don’t come in a single-use bag. Instead, the kernels come in recyclable bags and small cups. Pour the kernels into the brand’s reusable silicone bowl and microwave for 2–4 minutes. (Pro tip: You can pop the bowl in the dishwasher.)

This kit includes four of its best-selling flavors.
$35 at Opopop

Opopop’s Wasabi Popcorn will punch your tastebuds with flavor with each and every bite. You can get a bag for $14.99 (it makes 36 cups). However, if you don’t have the brand’s reusable bowl, you can grab it for $23.99 on its own or score one in the Opopop Discovery Kit. The kit includes the bowl and four best-selling flavors: Lightly Salted, Vanilla Vanilla, Salty Caramel and Like Buddahh (lots of butter!). This way, you get the bowl and stock up on what’s bound to be your new favorite snack.
