Good morning.

Here’s Yahoo Finance’s Monday morning wrap:

ASX: The Australian share market is expected to open low after Wall Street posted losses on Friday.

Wall Street: Investors were concerned with obstacles to fiscal stimulus, concerns over lengthy vaccine rollouts and increasing state-level Covid-19 shutdowns.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.75 per cent; the S&P 500 lost 0.68 per cent; and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.42 per cent.

Some good news: The border between NSW and Victoria is now officially open, after 137 days. Flights between the two cities have also resumed.

Also, from today, QR codes will be mandatory for all businesses in NSW from today, meaning the old paper and pen method won’t be acceptable anymore.

It’s “not impossible” that global travel will resume next year. That’s according to Tourism Minister Simon Birmingham! He does think it will be “challenging”, though, and will hinge on a successful vaccine. Here’s what else he said.

What’s life on JobKeeper really like? About one in four adult Australians are on JobKeeper payments of some kind. But for many of those who have been placed on the wage subsidy, they soon realise they’re about to lose their job altogether. More on this from Yahoo Finance contributor Jo Townsend.

The hot weather isn’t good for your job. No, really: A new report by the Australian Institute's Centre for Future Work found that heat stress from climate change pose risks for many Australian workers.

And it isn’t just for those who have outside jobs. If you work indoors but with poor climate control, this affects you too. Read about it here.

Meanwhile, outgoing US President Donald Trump has said the Paris climate accord is designed to cripple America’s economy rather than save the planet.

It’s probably going to be his last appearance at an international summit in the capacity of US President as the world awaits Joe Biden’s inauguration.

A tax on electric vehicles? Victoria and SA have announced it will introduce an electric vehicle charge to offset losses in fuel excise. Australian Automobile Association managing director Michael Bradley thinks this tax should go national. Here’s more.
