Mum's 'absolutely disgusting' find inside Woolworths lemon juice

A Woolworths customer has lashed out at the supermarket after an "absolutely disgusting" find in a bottle of lemon juice she was about to use in her son's food.

In a video posted to the Woolworths official Facebook page, the mother showed a bottle of Woolworths brand zesty lemon juice still well within the best before date and poured out a dark green mystery blob from inside the container.

"Just wondering, what in the hell is this crap?" the customer asked Friday.

The Perth mum said she was about to use the lemon juice to put on her 18-month-old son's piece of fish when she noticed what was inside the container.

"This is absolutely disgusting! And you are letting this kind of thing be in peoples homes! I have never ever felt so sick in my life," she wrote.

Another customer asked the woman if she had kept her bottle of lemon juice in the fridge, suggesting that could be part of the problem.

"It's mould, it happened to my lemon juice when it was left unrefrigerated after being opened," a woman wrote.

The mother quickly replied that she had "always" stored the lemon juice in the fridge.

"How and why is it moulding before the use by/best before date?" another user asked.

Woolworths responded to Yahoo News Australia in a statement with a spokesperson saying they had reached out to the customer to request further information so they could follow up with the in-store team.

"At Woolworths, we take food safety and quality very seriously," the supermarket spokesperson said.

They added they will encourage the customer to return the product back to their local store for a full refund.
