Woman throws ‘elaborate party’ for her pet bunnies

This birthday cake for bunnies is as adorable as it is tiny.

Healthcare worker Maeve Nguyen started making videos about her two Netherlands dwarf rabbits, 1-year-old Esme and Timothy. Facing unprecedented boredom during her downtime, she began creating miniature meals for the pair. Nguyen posts the bunny parties on her YouTube channel The Bunny Fiesta.

“I made these videos out of sheer boredom during the quarantine but kept going because I remembered how much I enjoyed arts and crafts projects like when I was in elementary school,” Nguyen told Newsflare. “I used to make awesome dioramas back then, now I throw elaborate parties (and catering) for my two bunnies. I think it was time well spent.”

She made an itty-bitty double-layer cake for Esme and Timothy in January. Nguyen’s cake was actually pretty simple and elegant. She cut out two discs from the meat of a plum to make the two layers of cake. Then she mashed some raspberries for the fruit frosting between each layer. She topped the two-tier cake with tiny bits of raspberries, small flowers and added a mint garnish.

Nguyen cut two slices of the cake, placed them in bowls and served a plate to Timothy and Esme. They gobbled it right up. The bunny chef did have a note for pet owners that wanted to follow her recipe.

“Like humans, bunnies should only have sugar in moderation and the amount they can have depends on the size and weight of your bunny. Our bunnies only eat a small amount of sweets on holidays or as special rewards,” she wrote in the YouTube caption.
